If Machu Picchu is on your bucket list, you can reach the temple in the clouds by hiking the Inca Trail, taking a bus or train.

South America is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on the region and activities you want to do. Places like the Amazon Rainforest and the Andes mountains create their own unique weather patterns and during the rainy season, they can experience transportation disruptions. While countries like Colombia and Venezuela tend to have seasonal similarities to North America, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay are flipped. It's best to research specific countries and the month you plan to go before you book.
